Where Excellence Is No Accident
After close to fifteen years of teaching Sensei Scott Padgett and Sifu Katrina Padgett promote Lu Yan Ling Riddle to 3rd KYU Brown Belt. Brown Belt is the first of the advance belts within the junior belt curriculum and is upheld as 'a prestigious accomplishment within the Padgett Kenpo Karate Association system (PKKA). Lu Yan Ling Riddle is the first female child to obtain this rank within the PKKA from either Sensei Padgett or Sifu Padgett who have a combination of over twenty-years of teaching experience. The test consisted of over ten kata, fifty self-defense, thirty natural wbapons, twenty kicks, several striking or kicking sets, foot maneuvers, sparing techniques and an intense mental and physical exhibition.
Lu Yan Ling is currently nine years old and attends Mrs. Webb's fourth grade class at Homestead Elementary. When Lu Yan "grows up" she plans to be a karate instructor and own her own martial arts school (dojo). Her interests include going to school, karate and Books- A-Million. Her hobbies include going fishing and building things with her hands. She is a very active child who likes to be challenged and does not like being idle.
