Master Sensei Scott Padgett

        Master Sensei Scott Padgett has studied martial arts for over 24 years.  He was introduced to the martial arts at the age of ten. His first lesson was with the NunChaku taught by his uncle who had studied in Okinawa. This influenced Master Padgett to start on his journey to make martial arts a serious part of his life. Master Padgett began his understudy with Master Sensei Jim Green in 1989.  He opened his first Karate School in January 1994 and began to develop his own system for the martial arts world, “Padgett Kenpo Karate System”.  This system was introduced in 1999 with a combination of numerous arts studied.  These various arts Padgett included are as follows; American Kenpo, Chinese Kenpo, Tracy Kenpo, Aikido, Shorin-Ryu karate, Judo, Si-Fang-Tao, Choy-Li-Fut, Hung-Gar, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Chin-Na, Dos-Manas, and Ka-Kido-Te. Padgett’s Weapon training includes Iaido, kendo, Taboosa Escrima, Coli, Naganata, nunchaku,  Sai, Tonfa, Kama, specialized combat knife training and Chinese Broadsword, Bo-Jitsu (American, Chinese, and Japanese).

        Master Padgett has produced more than 100 State Champions, more than 40 National Champions, and 5 World Champions over his career. In 1998-1999, the Padgett Kenpo Karate Association Tournament Team swept the Tennessee Karate Circuit winning Kata Champion, Kumite/Fighting Champion, Demo Team Champion, and ultimately Best Overall Dojo in the State of Tennessee, and Champion of Tennessee.  Master Padgett has trained with professionals in the Karate field such as World-renowned Karate Masters and Stars, some which includes Jeff Speakman, Bennie the Jet, Gil Hibbin, Huk Palanza, Paul Dye, Barbara Hale, Frank Trejo, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, “Judo” Gene Lebelle, Ed Parker, Jr., Skip Hancock, Master Sensei Jim Green, Grand Master Pk Eun, Eric Lee, The Great Japanese Master Motobu Sensei, and The 22nd Generation Grand Master Thomas B. Mitose.

        In addition to those accomplishments, Master Padgett has a history of further great undertakings.  In 1993 to 1996 Master Padgett was president of the Tennessee Kenpo Karate Association (TKKA).  He is currently a World Judge for the World Sport Karate Federation (WSKF).He has previously been a world judge for the NASKA karate circuit for many years.  Master Padgett’s accomplishments also ventures to several important interviews and columns about how to have a successful Judo and Karate  program in a martial arts school for Martial Arts Professional in 2003.  The same year Master Padgett won the Gold Medal in Judo.  Master Padgett is currently the 2006 Tiger Claw Kenpo line model for the “kenpo gi”, featured worldwide in magazines, flyers, and the internet. Several of his students have joined him as models in the 2006 Tiger Claw magazine.

            On top of Master Padgett’s personal happenings he has continually given back to the Karate society. Traveling all over the United States teaching and helping continue the growth of the martial arts. In July of 2005 Master Padgett was inducted into the United States Hall of Fame, making him Top Kenpo instructor for the United States! In 2006 Master Padgett was again inducted into the Hall of Fame, this time however was his Highest Honor when he was recognized as the Master of the Year for the United States!   Looking back, one of Master Padgett’s proudest accomplishments came in 2000 and 2001 when his team won the National Championship of each category of the North American Karate Sport Association (NASKA).  Also, this team was honored in THE NASKA CHAMPION MAGAZINE across the United States.
